Icon at Risk: Maison Zilveli

Imagine stumbling upon a forgotten modernist gem, hiding in plain sight in a Parisian neighborhood. That’s exactly what happened to architect and filmmaker Peter Wyeth, who discovered the radical Maison Zilveli perched atop a precious slope. Now, Wyeth is working to restore Zilveli and open it to the public as a base for exhibitions and research.

Congratulations to the filmmakers of La Ricarda: the House of Glass!

The filmmakers behind La Ricarda: La Casa de Vidre, recently reached the goal for their crowdfunding campaign. This documentary tells the story behind La Ricarda, otherwise known as Casa Gomis, one of the jewels in the crowd of Catalan rationalism and a cultural refuge during Franco’s reign. Watch a clip from the film here. One of the Iconic Houses ‘Icons at Risk’, La Ricarda is under threat from the passage of time and the growing proximity of the Barcelona airport.

Richard Hutten at Sonneveld House

Famed Rotterdam designer Richard Hutten has enriched the already lively Sonneveld House Museum with a treasure trove of furniture, textiles and kitchenware. Hutten’s work as a guest curator plays his bright, playful objects off the colorful 1930s interior, designed by the firm Brinkman & Van de Vlugt. The installation will be open until May 2014.
