Five questions for... Wim de Wit

In his years heading the Department of Architecture at the Getty, Wim de Wit acquired the archives from a number of architects who built noteworthy houses either for themselves or for intelligent clients. He is perfectly qualified, then, to set the scene for us in a lecture entitled 'The origin of the Modern House in Southern California’, at our conference at the Getty Center in February 2016.

Welcome Casa Luis Barragán

We are thrilled to announce that the Unesco-listed house of Luis Barragán in Mexico City has teamed up with us. It joins Cuadra San Cristobal and the Frida Kahlo Museum to become our third Mexican member. We hope this will strengthen our bond with Central and South America. There are many masterpieces there that we would also like to include! Link to its listing and click on the image for a slideshow.

Five questions for... Linda Dishman

Linda Dishman has led the Los Angeles Conservancy, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving historic places throughout LA County, for 20 years. With over 6,000 members, it is the USA’s largest group of its kind. Linda will be a speaker at our conference at the Getty Center in February 2016 and shares with us one of her prime concerns: LA's 'mansionization'.

Welcome Villa Gallery in Lódz

The Villa Gallery, also know as Villa Kindermann, is our second member from Poland. As a superb example of Art Nouveau architecture, the contrast with our other Polish member, the Oskar Hansen House, couldn't be bigger. Link to its listing for more information about the house and than click on the image for a slideshow of its elaborate details.
