Rose (1913–1991) was a prominent landscape architect and his compound fulfilled his dream of establishing a landscape-research centre. The James Rose Center combines scrap-metal sculptures, inventive fibreglass screens and three glass and block structures, creating a unified spatial experience with the existing trees.
