 | | Tweedaagse conferentie in Brussel | | Considering Monoculture | | 27 februari 2020 - 28 februari 2020 | Het Van Abbemuseum, het M HKA (Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen) en deBuren (het Nederlands-Vlaamse huis voor cultuur en debat in Brussel) nodigen je van harte uit voor de tweedaagse conferentie Considering Monoculture.
In dit tweedaagse interdisciplinaire programma wordt aandacht besteed aan actuele en historische manifestaties van monocultuur en de gevolgen ervan voor de domeinen van kunst en cultuur en de instellingen die er deel van uitmaken. Het maatschappelijk concept van monocultuur kan worden gedefinieerd als de homogene uitdrukking van de cultuur van één enkele sociale of etnische groep.
Considering Monoculture vindt op 27 en 28 februari a.s. plaats bij deBuren. Het programma omvat onder meer een lezing van Chantal Mouffe en een reeks papers, activiteiten en artistieke presentaties. De conferentie wordt in het Engels gehouden.

Georganiseerd in het kader van Our Many Europes, een vierjarig door de EU gefinancierd programma dat wordt georganiseerd door de museumconfederatie L'Internationale.
L'Internationale is een confederatie van zeven moderne en
hedendaagse kunstinstellingen. L'Internationale wil een ruimte voor kunst
binnen een niet-hiërarchisch en gedecentraliseerd internationalisme bieden,
vertrekkende vanuit waarden van verschil en horizontale uitwisseling tussen een
groep culturele agenten die lokaal geworteld en wereldwijd met elkaar verbonden
zijn. De confederatie brengt zeven moderne en hedendaagse kunstinstellingen
samen: Moderna galerija (MG+MSUM, Ljubljana, Slovenië); Museo Nacional Centro
de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS, Madrid, Spanje); Museu d'Art Contemporani de
Barcelona (MACBA, Barcelona, Spanje); Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie,
(MSN, Warschau, Polen); Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen (M HKA,
Antwerpen, België); SALT (Istanbul en Ankara, Turkije) en Van Abbemuseum (VAM,
Eindhoven, Nederland).

This two-day interdisciplinary programme will consider current and historical manifestations of monoculture as well as its implications for art, culture and its institutions. The societal understanding of monoculture can be defined as the homogeneous expression of the culture of a single social or ethnic group.
Considering Monoculture will take place in Brussels at deBuren on 27 and 28 February. It will include a lecture by Chantal Mouffe, and a series of papers, activities and artistic presentations. The conference will be held in English.
