They will share their personal experiences about life after the academy. It will be a session about self-employment, discussing topics like commercial work, galleries, assignments, side jobs and taxes. TERRIBLE KNITTERS
THE TERRIBLE KNITTERS
Exhibition by Lejla Verheus and Mika Perlmutter
@ Plan B, Amsterdam
Friday & Saturday, 14:00 – 17:00

The Terrible Knitters, a time-traveling, genre-bending, and vaguely disinterested thread band of four—Lady Chatelaine, the Bi-Stitchual Cowboy, Arachne, and Plotting Pixie. The band, perpetually “working on an album,” practices in their rehearsal space at Plan B, where the walls are plastered with posters of their musical idols, fashion icons, and wildly ambitious mood boards. Knitting needles double as drumsticks, sewing machines lay down the bass line, and looms add a haunting, analog reverb.

STUDENTS WORK

SENSORY CAFÉ
@ Beautiful Distress, located in NDSM

Students from the 2nd year of architectural design have been working with tutor Saja Amro to realize a new cafe/hangout space at the arts institution.
With Frederikke Falbe-Hansen, Anka Loladze, and Florian Sigl, with Saja Amro. Visuals by Enno Pötschke.

In a time of constant uncertainty, elements of relief and flexibility have been added to a formerly uninviting space underneath the stairs on the ground floor of Beautiful Distress. Now, people here are invited to the present moment by resting, playing, and becoming physical with weight, heat, and light, comforting the body and mind. Bringing urgency to mental health crises might allow us to reflect on other current crises, and question whether they’re more connected than we might think.

KEEP AN EYE YOUNG TALENT PODCAST
With Alyson Sillon

The concept of the podcast is that a young creative talent, in this case Alyson, asks a question to an established talent, in this case creative director of design studio Dumbar Liza Enebeis. They create visual identities for North Sea Jazz, PostNL, Instagram, but also the Dutch government, Adidas, NS, etc. Alyson's question is about how to deal with friction in the design process: friction when you can't figure it out yourself, or friction when you and your client can't agree. She also mentions her graduation work, which she has been building on since graduating.
