SPECULATIVE GAZE: READING THE ALGORITHMIC IMAGE
A research seminar with Femke Herregraven, Zachary FormwaltFlavia Dzodan
By Rietveld Sandberg Research
@ Sandberg Auditorium, Gerrit Rietveld Academie
From 17:00 till 19:00

In this seminar we will engage with the AI-generated image as a site for layered interpretation, inquiry, and cross-referential research. How do we see an image that isn’t solely of human origin? Each month, we will 'read' three AI-generated images, analyzing their ambiguity and generative potential by linking them with theories, artworks, literature, film, sound, and more. Through this process, we ask: What networks of meaning arise from images crafted by algorithms?

Katrin Korfmann
AUGENBLICK
Exhibition by Katrin Korfmann
@ Bradwolff & partners, Amsterdam

In this exhibition, Katrin examines how urban spaces are appropriated and transformed, and how we relate to them. Her recent works, including photographs of freerunners in Amsterdam and surfers in Munich, challenge the classic photographic ‘decisive moment’. In a time when imagery is increasingly influenced by algorithms and virtuality, Katrin invites the viewer to reflect on the fleeting and layered nature of perception.

PRESENCE
Exhibition by llona Plaum
@ Huis Marseille, Amsterdam

In this exhibition, Ilona resolutely walks to the top floor. 'Then we can walk from top to bottom.' The artist then tells that her work should actually function like a pinball machine. 'On the one hand, you have a kind of performance where you are withdrawn and in which you see all kinds of things. But at the same time I try to disrupt that viewing system in such a way that you also get a backlay. That you think: what am I looking at.'
