Is it possible to make a connection without ever seeing or talking to each other? Does intimacy depend on physical presence? Is the reader at the mercy of the writer, or is it the other way around? And how is that bond influenced by anonymity?
All these questions come together in this letter, in which dreams and philosophy are intertavened. A letter written especially for you.

THE WEIGHT OF MY NAME
Video installation by Luca Heydt
@ Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim, Neuenhaus, Germany
Opening 24 MAY from 19:00

In this video Luca conducts research about his family history, specifically about his great-grandfather.
The research partly happens through reading and archive visits and partly through interviews. The work speaks to the ways we process identity through oral retelling, the ways they process their family history as well as ways we can find personal and contemporary access points to remembrance culture.

MONUMENTS OF MEMORY
Exhibition with a.o. Peter Vink
Arti et Amicitae, Amsterdam

The exhibition presents Irina Birger’s large-scale charcoal drawings alongside Peter Vink’s site-specific light installation. Together, they create a stimulating dialogue between darkness and light, intuition and structure, micro and macro level. Their works contrast and complement each other, thus forming a powerful reflection on how we perceive, process and preserve the world—both physically and digitally.

ZOU JE VAN MIJ HOUDEN
Performance by Leendert Vooijce
@ Oosterkerk, Amsterdam

As a child, Leendert crawled under the table, wrapped in grandmother's heels, and whispered: “Mom, would you love me if I were a girl?” Silence followed.
How do we cherish a place in our society for those who want to create themselves? Based on Leendert's own gender quest, it takes you into a movement between masculinity and femininity, in the language of poetry and theater.

THE WOMAN WHO THOUGHT SHE WAS A PLANET
3day-festival with a.o. Katja Mater, Evita Vasiljeva
@ Buda, België

'The Woman Who Thought She Was a Planet' is the closing chapter of Border Buda, a three-year cultural project taking place in Buda, an industrial neighbourhood where the Northern outskirts of Brussels cross into Vilvoorde and Machelen in Flanders.
Artists, architects, writers, researchers, radio makers and activists speculate on possible futures for Buda through the many ghosts that inhabit it. In their presence, they experiment with alternative modes of viewing, valuing and being in Buda, to dislodge its ‘development’ agenda and broaden its imaginaries, models and typologies.

In Presence, Ilona lets the visitor descend into her poetic universe, in which she loosely questions our perception. Only when you start to doubt do you come across an indisputable truth: doubt incets you to observe and allows you to experience that you exist.
