(Inn) a State of Siege

Qali Nur
Qali Nur received a grant to develop her new documentary in which former employees of the Hotel Holiday in Sarajevo tell their story of running a hotel in time of war. How do you keep a hotel running, in a besieged city and in a location surrounded by snipers?Qali is a freelance journalist and filmmaker. She previously worked as a researcher on the 20-part documentary series In Europe produced by Dutch public TV broadcaster the VPRO. In 2021, Qali co-created the documentary Between Mountains and Wars/Izmedu Planina i Ratova with Natali Khalili Tari, which premiered at the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival.

The Amarte Foundation was founded by a number of individuals and their families who share a deep love for the arts. They wish to support the development of creatives and talent in arts and culture by providing financial means and where possible coaching, knowledge and experience. Artists and cultural institutions can apply at Amarte for the support of projects in the field of theatre, film, music, visual arts and literature, as well as interdisciplinary projects.
