New Artists' Homes: Ensor and Permeke This month we welcome the homes and studios of two major Belgian artists to our international network: the Permeke Museum and James Ensor's house. James Sidney Edouard Baron Ensor was an important Symbolist painter. He is widely recognized as the most important innovator in 20th-century Belgian art, as well as the heir to the long Northern tradition of fantasy and the grotesque.
