|  | | Première: Een Gevoel van Zwart | | 1 december 2018 | | Tijdens het Eindhoven Film Festival wordt Een Gevoel van Zwart voor het eerst in het Van Abbemuseum vertoond. De documentaire voert de kijker mee in de wereld van de blinde kunstenaar George Kabel (1955) uit Eindhoven. George is beeldhouwer en lijdt aan het syndroom van Usher. Voor hem betekent dit dat hij naast zijn blindheid ook doof wordt. | |
|  | | Teken in het museum | Helen Storm | | 6 december 2018 | | Op donderdagavond 6 december is het tijd voor de derde editie van Helen Storm's tekenworkshop. Deze keer ga je een zelfportret tekenen! In deze workshop leer je hoe je anderen kan tekenen, maar vooral ook naar je zelf te kijken. Hoe zie jij jezelf en wat zijn echt karakteristieken van jouw gezicht? Aan het eind van de avond heb je een echte selfie op papier gezet. | |

Hoe beïnvloeden de aankomende trends in design en kunst onze keuzes? Je hoort het in STATE of the ART 2019. |  | | Plastics Project | | 12 januari 2019 - 27 januari 2019 | | Hoe conserveren we plastic? Dat is de prangende vraag van Project Plastic. Dagelijks maken we ons zorgen over
plastic als vervuilend materiaal. In de
kunst speelt bijna het tegenovergestelde. Plastic mag niet vergaan, want een plastic kunstwerk is daarmee kwetsbaar. Hoe we plastic moeten conserveren, is op vele fronten een raadsel. Gedurende twee weken gaan we door middel van live onderzoeken en workshops dieper in op het onderwerp. | |

tentoonstelling With Pride viert IHLIA LGBT Heritage 40 jaar LGBTQI activisme
door heel Nederland en Europa. IHLIA is de internationale organisatie voor
LGBT-erfgoed. Het is Europa's grootste archief over homoseksualiteit,
biseksualiteit en transkwesties die verhalen over seksualiteit, gender en de
daaraan verbonden politiek verzamelt, documenteert en deelt. | |

met het hele gezin naar het museum! Op zaterdagen kun je deelnemen aan de Kinderkunstclub, waarbij je samen met een
groepje zelf kunst gaat maken. Of ga mee op avontuur tijdens de theatrale rondleidingen. Samen met de
Japanse Yuki, een vrolijk Manga-meisje, ga je met behulp van haar Oosterse
krachten de vloek verdrijven!

Vanwege de feestdagen is het museum gesloten op 25
december (eerste kerstdag), 1 januari (Nieuwjaarsdag) en donderdagavond 3
januari. In plaats van 3 januari zijn we geopend op donderdagavond 10 januari.
Verhoging entreeprijs
Vanwege de verhoging van het lage btw-tarief per 1 januari 2019 veranderen de kosten voor jouw museumbezoek. De prijs van een entreeticket zal op 1 januari verhoogd worden van €12,00 naar €12,50. De tarieven voor kortingskaarten blijven hetzelfde. | |

| | | Premiere: A Sense of Black | | 1 December 2018 | | During the Eindhoven Film Festival A Sense of Black will be shown for the first time at the Van Abbemuseum. The documentary leads the viewer into the world of the blind artist George Kabel (1955) from Eindhoven. George is a sculptor and suffers from the Usher syndrome. For him, this means that he will become deaf next to his blindness. | |

| | | General information | Opening hours December / January
Because of the holidays, the museum will be closed on 25 December (Christmas Day), 1 January (New Year's Day) and Thursday 3 January. Instead of being open on the first Thursday evening of January, the museum will be open on Thursday evening 10 January.
Increase admission price
Because of the increase in the low VAT rate per 1 January 2019 the costs for your museum visit will change. The price of an entrance ticket will be raised from €12.00 to €12.50 per 1 January. The rates for discount cards remain the same. | |
