MEET THE SPEAKERS AND BOOK YOUR EARLY-BIRD TICKETS NOW !
Online Conference: Pioneers of the Dutch Modern House

In the run-up to Pioneers of the Dutch Modern House, our Iconic Houses online event in September, we present our speakers and the themes of their keynotes. Then in our next newsletter we'll introduce the leading authorities on architecture in the Netherlands who will present the video series about the Dutch reinvention of the house in the 20th century.

The benefit of bringing our conference online is that we can visit more houses now than we could have covered physically – 20 in total, spread all over the Netherlands! Also, it’s much easier to attend – the modules are never longer than 90 minutes, and with one a week you can plan your schedule around them. You can also watch modules later, at a time that suits you. Finally, of course, it costs far less to take part because there are no physical tours and no travel and accommodation costs.

Register now to benefit from the early-bird registration rates!
The deadline to register at the discounted rate is Saturday, July 31st.

Inside Iconic Houses
Our COVID-project, Inside Iconic Houses, the exclusive live house tour series led by our members' houses directors and curators , will take a break in August and September, after the visit to Casa Organicá on 29 July. In September we bring a five-part video series as part of our conference modules, covering the 20 iconic houses in the Netherlands. And you can travel on demand to the recorded house tours that can already be found in the webshop! Thursday 21 October we'll be back with the fortnightly Inside Iconic Houses live tours, starting with Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House!

Note:
Plan any physical visits to our member's house museums well in advance, as house museums can have irregular visiting times and coronavirus guidelines often require online reservation.
Villa Beer by Josef Frank in Vienna is Saved!
Good news from Austria: Villa Beer, designed by Josef Frank and Oskar Wlach (1930) is no longer at risk! Its new owner is determined to turn it into a museum open to the public after a careful and sensitive restoration. The villa is one of the most important works of private housing of the 1920s-1930s and is on par with other important Modernist buildings by such architects as Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe or Adolf Loos.

Adopt an Icon at Risk - PLEASE DONATE
Thanks to your donations, we can add new listings to our Icons at Risk Watch List. Worldwide, 60 houses are on our radar of which 42 have been researched and published. We need your help to continue research and publish them all. The Iconic Houses Foundation, like many non-profits, is in a precarious position due to Covid. Please donate to help us continue putting these houses in the spotlight to (hopefully) save them from demolition.
