| Start of the new Social Justice and Diversity in the arts research group | As of August 1st, the Executive Board has appointed Aminata Cairo as lector and Rosa te Velde as associate lector of the new Social Justice and Diversity in the Arts research group. As dual lectors, they will initiate, develop and conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the creation of an inclusive arts and culture sector, including art courses and arts education. | |

| | | Research in professional practice by Art Education research group | Lectors of the Art Education research group Melissa Bremmer and Emiel Heijnen, together with fellow collegues, prefer to translate their research into professional practice. Besides peer reviewed articles, the lectors publish in professional journals and write opinion articles to inspire the work field. For example, read here about inclusive music education for children with a disability or here about modern art lessons to stimulate children to learn critical thinking. |

| The Cultural Heritage research group continues in European research | Together with 26 European partners, Hester Dibbits, Jonathan Even-Zohar and Harry Reddick of the Cultural Heritage research group continue to build on the Horizon 2020 project CENTRINNO. From 16 to 19 May, the entire group came together in Barcelona. Together with Imagine IC, the research group organized a workshop about 'making cultural heritage', by having all participants make a pop-up exhibition together. |

| | | Book launch and the Mime Futurity Symposium | On September 2, ATD’s postdoctoral researcher Marijn
de Langen will launch her highly anticipated book Dutch Mime. In celebration of the completion of this large-scale research project,
ATD is hosting the Mime Futurity Symposium; A research week
full of talks, performances, workshops, exchange and indepth conversation
around the legacy and futurity of Mime in the Netherlands. The program will be announced in early July. |

| First edition of the ATD Research Month | In May 2022, the Academy for Theatre and Dance hosted its first ATD Research Month. The programme included seven different events: from intimate
practical workshops to large scale symposia. During the events, questions of social justice and accessibility in the arts, research and
education were at the forefront. | |

Themes Comenius programme 2023 announced! | The Comenius programme, a programme that supports renewal and improvement in higher education, has announced four themes for the 2023 programme. From June, education professionals can submit their ideas for innovative projects, for possibly receiving the Comenius grant.

| | The Rhythm Changes Conference: Jazz Then & Now | The seventh 'Rhythm Changes'-conference, Jazz
Then & Now, will take place at the Conservatorium van
Amsterdam, from 25 to 28 August 2022. Jazz Then & Now continues to build on
the legacy of 'Rhythm Changes: Jazz Cultures and European Identities'; a research project focused on developing networking opportunities and collaborative research in transnational jazz studies. | |

| Approved PhD thesis research group High-Density Energy Landscapes | Recently the PhD thesis of Dirk Oudes on a ‘landscape-inclusive energy
transition’ was approved by a scientific committee. Dirk works as research
fellow in the research group High-Density Energy Landscapes of the Academy of
Architecture. He will defend his thesis on the 30th of June at Wageningen
University. You can watch his defense online, live or at a later moment.

| | | STEAM Teacher Trainings for primary and secondary education | In Octobre 2022, the Centre of Expertise Arts&Education will organize STEAM-trainings; STEAM stands for 'Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics’. The collaboration between artists and scientists contributes to getting answers for complex issues that require an interdisciplinary approach. The training courses give you tools on how you can apply STEAM and the series of lessons in your educational practice.
