7th International Conference a Huge Success
We celebrated 10 years as a network with 100 house museum professionals and architecture lovers from 16 countries, enjoying scholarly info, focused house visits, and local engagement. Our 10-day event included 20 lectures, 7 receptions and 25 house museum visits in Central Europe: Prague, Pilsen and Brno in Czechia; Vienna, Oberwart and Steindorf in Austria, and Ljubljana in Slovenia. Welcome Markeliushuset, our First Swedish Member!
Sven Markelius' Markeliushuset (1935) in Stockholm is internationally famous for its architecture and social and cultural-historical significance. It offered communal amenities - like daycare, a shared kitchen and restaurant, a laundry centre and grocery store - to help women and working families. Now the Markeliushuset opens a new chapter with Iconic Houses, by becoming our first Swedish member.

Last House Designed by Adolf Loos Begun in Prague
Almost 90 years after the death of architect, visionary and provocateur Adolf Loos, his final design - a single wooden house - will be built in Prague. As his only building for a working- or middle-class family, it will be doubly unique. A ceremony for the start of the construction, held in the presence of our 100 conference attendees, featured hammering an ax into a piece of wood and was both original and entertaining.

Icon for Sale - Casa Legorreta
Architecture fans know that owning a Legorreta home is like owning a Frank Lloyd Wright or Mies van der Rohe - a rare opportunity. Located in the UNESCO World Heritage village of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, Casa Legorreta (2005) was designed by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, the first Latin AIA Gold Medal winner. It is on the market for the first time.

CALL TO ACTION: Help Save Marcel Breuer's Cape Cod House!
The Cape Cod Modern House Trust has a limited time to purchase, preserve and restore the Wellfleet house of Marcel Breuer, one of the 20th century’s most important designers and architects. His house, the most significant modernist house on Cape Cod, is in disrepair but is entirely original, and the acquisition would include Breuer’s irreplaceable collection of art, furniture, books and photographs which will be archived and made available to scholars and the public.

Rietveld Day: 200 Enthusiasts Explore 3 Utrecht Icons
On one of the warmest days of the year, the Rietveld Schröder House (1924), Van Ravesteyn House (1933) and Van Schijndel House (1992) in Utrecht, the Netherlands, opened their doors for short visits. 200 visitors explored these three modern houses, each designed by an important and pioneering architect. In addition, our thematic film Pioneers of the Dutch Modern House was screened in Utrecht's Centraal Museum.
