The founders of Boekie Woekie have been committed to the independent artists’ bookstore for almost forty years, based on an alternative idea of what a book in the hands of artists can be. Arti & Amicitiae gave the unique collective and their close-knit community the possibility to transform their spaces into a landscape of artists’ books, zines, videos, publications, multiples, audio tapes and installations, by contemporary artists, thinkers and writers from all over the world.
